In recent times, Egypt has built many new cities, such as 4G Cities. Among the most important and famous 4G cities is the New Administrative Capital, one of the largest projects in Egypt that is characterized by its strategic location due to its proximity to the Suez Canal region, the main axes, and some cities, such as New Cairo , Future City, and Madinaty. It has many top attractions that attracts Egyptians and foreigners from all over the world, such as the Iconic Tower, the tallest tower in Egypt and Africa, Knowledge City, International Olympic City, the Monorail, and the Green River Park. Let's discover more details about the Green River Park.

About the Green River Park

This project is called the Green River because it’s a simulation of the Nile River. Just as the Nile River crosses over Egypt from north to south, the Green River also crosses over the New Administrative Capital from north to south.

The Green River Park is a large-scale urban park located in the center of the New Administrative Capital, implemented by the Egyptian Ministry of Housing in partnership with Dar Al Handasah. It is characterized by its modern design that aligns with the international standards for modern public parks as well as its strategic location that overlooks the Central Business District (CBD), where the Iconic Tower is located.

This park is considered the largest eco-friendly central park in the world, as it extends over 35 kilometers and covers a total area of 6,200 acres, which is 3 times larger than Hyde Park in London and 6 times larger than Central Park in New York City. It starts from the middle ring road to the regional ring road and is expected to become a touristic attraction that will compete with some of the most famous parks in the world.

Green River’s Design & Available Services

The Green River is divided into 3 sectors; The first sector includes more than 250 acres of open areas for picnicking, the second one is considered the center for cultural and entertainment activities, and the third one embodies the nature and privacy of public parks and their close connection with the surroundings, such as the Central Business District (CBD). It also consists of 7 gardens, which are an international park, sports park, plants park, historic park, science park, health and population park, and business and finance park.

In the Green River Park, there are two artificial lakes; the first lake spans over an area of 4 acres, and the second one spans over an area of 25 acres, and the water of the lakes are supplied from the water treatment plants in the New Administrative Capital. There are also large green spaces, trees, and a group of some of the rarest plants in the world. Let’s not forget to mention that the Green River Park has 36 gates, and all universities and the 20 neighborhoods in the Capital will be linked to them.

In addition, there are many entertainment services in the Green River Park that will let visitors enjoy their time, including:

• High-quality restaurants and cafes overlooking the artificial lakes.
• A recreational games area on both sides of the Green River.
• Walking, running, and cycling tracks of about 20 km long.
• Several stadiums with an area of 10 acres are planted with grass.
• Places for official and private celebrations.
• An open cinema, open theater, and open library.

Phases of Construction

The construction started in 2019 and was divided into 3 phases. The first phase was completed at the end of 2022, with a length of 10 km and an estimated investment of about 9 billion Egyptian pounds. The second and third phases are still in progress.

How Will the Green River Park Affect the Real Estate Sector in Egypt?

The Green River Park will greatly affect the real estate sector in Egypt in general and the New Administrative Capital in particular. This park, with its large green spaces, recreational, cultural, and sports areas, will provide a sustainable and eco-friendly environment, improve air quality, and reduce the temperature of the New Administrative Capital, and since it overlooks many areas in the New Administrative Capital, such as the Central Business District (CBD) and Downtown, it will encourage many foreigners to rent properties there, and will also attract Egyptians to live in the park’s nearby areas and investors to invest in real estate in those areas to enjoy the stunning nature of the Green River, this will contribute to supporting the real estate sector in Egypt.
