Ras El Hekma is located in the North Coast and is officially a part of Marsa Matrouh Governorate. On February 23rd, Egypt and the Emirates signed a contract for the development of the upcoming "Ras El Hekma" city, with an estimated investment of around $150 billion. This includes $35 billion in foreign direct investment, of which $11 billion will be allocated to write off state debts. The agreement also specifies that Egypt will claim 35% of the project's overall profits. Signing the agreement were Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities & Urban Communities, Assem El-Gazzar, and the UAE’s Minister of Investment, Mohamed Alsuwaidi.

The collaborative endeavor is geared towards building a cutting-edge city set to become a pivotal hub for urban living, commerce, and tourism along Egypt’s North Coast. Situated to the west of Alexandria, this initiative will be carried out through a partnership between the New Urban Communities Authority and the Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ).

The project will cover an extensive area exceeding 40,600 feddans, comprising residential zones, prestigious hotels, resort destinations, vast entertainment facilities, and vital amenities such as hospitals, schools, and universities.

Furthermore, the city will host administrative and service infrastructures, along with a specialized free economic zone targeting information technology industries and logistics centers, as well as a central business district aimed at attracting multinational corporations.

What is the importance of its location:

● The Ras Al Hekma area, situated on Egypt's northwestern coast within the Governorate of Matrouh, spans approximately 180 square kilometers. Positioned about 350 kilometers northwest of Cairo, it forms a peninsula stretching about 50 square kilometers into the Mediterranean Sea, from the city of Dabaa in the east, home to the Dabaa nuclear plant, to the city of Marsa Matrouh in the west.

● This region is geographically distinguished by an exciting strategic and touristic location, as it is located west of the city and airport of El Alamein, Al-Hamra Petroleum Port, and close to Marsa Matrouh and Burj Al Arab International Airports. It also provides attractive natural features such as clear sea water and soft sandy beaches.

● The climate of the region is classified as a calm climate, similar to the rest of the North Coast.

● The new Fouka Road is among the mega projects that will reduce the distance between Cairo and El Alamein from about 240 kilometers via the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road to about 140 kilometers.
